Emakhazeni Local Municipality sent out a notice that the following landfill sites will be closed down.
- Waterval Boven
- Machadodorp
- Dullstroom
This will mean that residents of these towns will have to drive more than 50 km to dispose of refuse in Belfast at the only dumping site in the area.
It will result in illegal dumping of refuse.
This will cause refuse to pile up in towns, near rivers and between houses because the municipality does not have plans in place to prevent this.
